San Juan, PR — The Caribbean District of the Postal Service has announced suspension of delivery and retail operations due to the approach of Tropical Storm Erika.
- In the US Virgin Islands, all mail deliveries will be suspended at 3:30 pm today. Post offices will also close at 3:30 pm. No mail delivery or retail services are presently scheduled for Friday, August 28. This includes all addresses with ZIP Codes that begin with the three numbers 008.
- In Puerto Rico, all mail deliveries will be suspended today at 5 pm. Post offices will also close at 5 pm. Again, no mail delivery or retail services are presently scheduled for Friday, August 28. This includes all addresses with ZIP Codes that begin with the three numbers, 006, 007 and 009.
Postal officials indicate that the safe restoration to full services will be made in consideration of the impacts of Tropical Storm Erika. Changes to operations will be publicized locally. Postal customers can also view the postal website, www.usps.com, or by way of the Postal Service’s call center at 1-800-275-8777.
Postal employees in the Caribbean District are instructed to call the Postal Service’s National Employee Emergency Hotline for updated reporting information.
