US Postal Service Caribbean District — Anticipating a busy holiday mailing season, postal operations continue with a normal Saturday and a strong Sunday schedule in Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands as Cyber Monday – traditionally one of the heaviest days for online shopping each holiday season – brings an avalanche of packages to addresses nationwide starting this week.

In the period between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, the Postal Service also expects to deliver 850 million packages nationwide, which is more than a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year.  Regional volumes are predicted to trend in the same direction, according to Caribbean postal officials.

In Puerto Rico, pickup and delivery services in Puerto Rico on Sunday, November 26, will be provided from 9 am to 2 pm in these locations:

In the US Virgin Islands on Sunday, the East End, Emancipation Gardens and Charlotte Amalie postal facilities will provide pickup and delivery service from 9 am to 1 pm.  The Cruz Bay Post Office will provide service from 10 am to 2 pm.  All USVI postal facilities will open for regular business on Saturday.

NEW: Customers who previously visited the Veterans Drive Annex in St Thomas for mail pickup are still directed to Charlotte Amalie this weekend although postal officials report the Veterans Drive location will reopen on Tuesday.

Customers of the Frederiksted Post Office in St Croix will continue to visit the Kingshill Post Office for mail pickup.

No locations will offer retail services, such as stamp sales or money order transactions, on Sunday.

More than 6 million packages are expected to be delivered each Sunday in December nationwide, with heavy volumes anticipated in the Caribbean.  To handle the surge in volume, local Postal Service officials continue Sunday delivery operations in select high package volume locations during the holiday season and provide additional weekend retail and pickup hours in December.
