PORTLAND – The Jamaica Post Office will be offering a special pictorial postmark to commemorate Jamaica Old Home Day.
On Saturday, July 28 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Jamaica Post Office located at 3912 VT Rte. 30, Postmaster Nadina Anderson and her staff will stamp letters and postcards with a unique postmark documenting the event. Specially authorized by the U.S. Postal Service, this special postmark is a wonderful way to take home an inexpensive souvenir of the occasion.
Customers can also request the special postmark free-of-charge by mail for 30 days after the event by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope containing the letter or envelope they wish to be cancelled to: Postmaster, 3912 VT Rte. 30, Jamaica, VT 05343-9998.
“We will be happy to cancel and return by mail any letters that our customers mail to us,” said Anderson. “Customers may also bring in their own envelopes to obtain a postmark that they can take home as a keepsake.”
