SAN DIEGO CA — The U.S. Postal Service today recognized Costco Wholesale Corporation with its Corporate Business Achievement Award for the company’s commitment to a successful business partnership with the Postal Service. A select group of postal customers is acknowledged and recognized for their contributions to the continued success of the mailing industry at the annual National Postal Forum held this week in San Diego CA.

Corporate Business Achievement Award: These winners were handpicked by the United States Postal Service Headquarters’ Officers. This year, the Corporate Business Achievement Award has been divided into categories that best describe the company’s achievement. From global alliances to collaboration on a smaller scale, the U.S. Postal Service values its business partnerships. These companies use postal products and services to deliver value and to help strengthen and grow their businesses. They are committed to producing winning results and these awards honor that commitment.

Costco joined the stamp consignment program through the Postal Service to offer postage stamps to their customers. They began a test in 18 warehouses placing pallet-sized displays containing 8” x 11” placards of the “Forever Stamp” for sale in packs of 100. They strategically placed signs at all of the registers reading “Did you remember to buy stamps?” offering customers one last opportunity to pick up postage stamps before leaving the store. Since the initial test was such a huge success, they expanded the program to of their U.S. warehouses.

“We are pleased to recognize and honor Costco Wholesale Corporation for its innovation, creativity and leadership,” said Deputy Postmaster General Ronald Stroman. “The creative marketing approach was beneficial for both companies. Costco Wholesale was able to increase their sales while delivering value to customers who were already visiting their local Costco warehouse. Costco has produced winning business results and supported the mailing industry.”

David Fuller, Assistant Vice President, Publishing, for Costco, accepted the award.
