Elkhart Lake, WI — Elkhart Lake is a town of approximately 1,000 people located within the Town of Rhine and is known for its road racing history.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, Elkhart Lake will be leading another race of sorts when it opens the third Village Post Offices (VPO) in the state of Wisconsin. The grand opening will be held at Marshall’s One Stop store, 510 East Rhine, Elkhart Lake, WI, 53020.

The new postal center will be officially opened by local and postal officials at 10:00 a.m.

Marshall’s One Stop manager Deb Koch said customers are excited about the Village Post Office opening. “They’re anxious for it to start,” she said. “This is a win/win and will help us expand services to our customers and bring people to our store.”

Marshall’s One Stop will be providing the following basic services: Forever stamp sales and free Priority Flat Rate box supplies.

Marshall’s One Stop is open seven days a week, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Several more VPOs are scheduled to open in the Lakeland District in the coming months. More information about the Village Post Office is available at www.usps.com/villagepostoffice

Last year, the Postal Service introduced the VPO model as an alternate retail location for postal products and services, especially in rural communities. VPOs are operated by local businesses contracting with the Postal Service, and offer a range of popular postal products and services including stamps and flat-rate packaging.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
