BEAVER DAM, WI — After working through the rain, sleet, snow and heat, City Letter Carrier Norman Grahn has retired after 58 years of service.
On Wednesday, May 15, the Beaver Dam Post Office, 411 North Spring Street, will hold an open house, beginning at 8:30 a.m. to wish Grahn well on his new career – retirement. “We’re very happy for Norm,” said Beaver Dam Postmaster Beverly Ovalle. “Norm has always been a positive employee and a hardworking letter carrier.”
Norman Grahn was born in 1934. He served in the Army from 1953-57 in communications. He began his postal career with the old Post Office Department in 1958 earning $2 an hour. Postage was 4 cents and there were no ZIP Codes. The Beaver Dam Post Office was also located in its old location at Maple and Spring. He worked on the same route since 1985.
The open house will consist of light refreshments. Local residents are encouraged to come down to the Post Office to say good bye to their long-time mailman, added Ovalle.
