LAKE GENEVA, WI — After serving the public for six decades, Lake Geneva Post Office Retail Associate Robert Pawlowski has retired.

Pawlowski was recognized by Postal Service District Manager Debbie Woodrum, Post Office Operations Manager Nancy Borst and Postmaster Steve Saylor for his longevity and 52 years of service. “I’ve enjoyed my time here,” said Pawlowski.  “I’ve always enjoyed the variety of my work and the different jobs I was able to do over the years.”

Pawlowski began his career at the Lake Geneva Post Office in 1964. At that time, he was hired as a clerk/carrier. This position required that he sort and deliver mail, including parcels and accountable mail along working the retail counter. This provided him the opportunity to get to know the local community.

Pawlowski has earned a special distinction by serving so long in the Postal Service. As a life-long resident of Lake Geneva, working in town was a favorable situation and afforded him the opportunity to improve his skill set with a vast knowledge of postal operations – something he wanted to pass on. “I hope I leave people with some knowledge that will help them out,” he said. “I know the employees will keep up with everything here after I’m gone.”

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
