What:

USPS representatives will attend a public meeting to propose relocating retail services provided by the Julian, WV Post Office.

Who:

USPS Real Estate Specialist Richard Hancock.

When:

May 25, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

Where:

677B Julian Rd., Julian WV 25529

Background:

The Postal Service is engaged in an effort to relocate the retail services provided at the Julian, WV, 159 Hill Valley Dr., to a not yet determined nearby location.

If the relocation is approved, Postal retail services would remain in the community at a different physical location within the same geographic ZIP Code area; there would be no impact on letter carrier delivery to residents and businesses, and no change to Post Office Box numbers or ZIP Codes.

The United States Postal Service will present this proposal during a 6:00 p.m. meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 677B Julian Rd., Julian, WV.

Written comments on the proposal will be accepted for 30 days following the meeting and may be submitted to:

Richard Hancock, Real Estate Specialist
United States Postal Service
PO Box 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103

As a self-supporting government agency that receives no tax dollars for its operating expenses, the Postal Service must rely on the sale of postage, products and services to generate revenue. Despite significant cost reductions, the Postal Service continues to experience a net loss due to declining mail volumes. Faced with unsustainable deficits, the Postal Service is required to find ways to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and sustain its viability.
