Post Office to host Veterans Day Program

CHARLESTON, WV – The Appalachian District invites postal customers to participate in a special Veterans Day remembrance program to be held at the Charleston Main Post Office, located at 1002 Lee Street, on Thursday, November 9, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

The celebration/remembrance is planned to honor all the men and women of the armed forces who have served to protect this great nation.

The programs featured special guest speaker will be Retired Major Richard Ojeda II of the U.S. Army.  Major Ojeda served with distinction in many campaigns to include Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  Major Ojeda was awarded numerous medals of honor to include the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal.  A Purple Heart medal for injuries Ojeda sustained while serving in Iraq is pending.

Major Ojeda resides in Logan, WV and is currently serving as State Senator of the 7th Senatorial District.

The program will also include presentation of the National Colors by the George Washington High School JROTC and the singing of our National Anthem by U.S. Postal Service Employee Raina Newhouse.

Additionally, Charleston City Carrier Ed Johnson also singing at the event.
