4-2.4 Air Transportation Operations

Air Transportation Operations at Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C., is responsible for the following:

1. Develop policy for the transportation of mail via certificated air carriers.
2. Manage all intra-Alaska mail transportation and operations (including participation in workgroups) and also manage all mail transportation and operations between Alaska and other U.S. states/territories.
3. Act as liaison with USPS legal counsel, the Government Relations office, and the external government regulatory agencies.
4. Resolve disputes between air carriers and field Postal Service administration.
5. Manage S-AMS Alaska.
