3-2.1 Advance Announcement of Contract Award to Corporate Communications

Contract awards that exceed $5 million; and contract awards of any dollar value that are highly visible or sensitive, may have significant media impact, and⁄or may generate interest on the part of Congress, require advance announcement. The following procedures apply to preparing and submitting advance announcements of contract awards to Corporate Communications. The CO will:

  • Determine whether the contract award requires announcement.
  • Prepare an announcement of award.
  • Issue the announcement to the following one day before the anticipated date of award:
  • Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President.
  • Vice President, Supply Management.
  • Vice President, (client organization).
  • Director, Government Relations and Public Policy.
  • Vice President, Corporate Communications.
  • Retain a copy of the announcement in the official contract file.

If warranted, Corporate Communications will prepare a draft press release based on the information given in the announcement and will provide the draft to the manager of the relevant CMC for review. After review, the CMC manager will inform Corporate Communications as to when the information may be released. No information may be released before the contract has been awarded.
