Clause 7-10: Sustainability is included in all contracts through its incorporation by reference in Clause 4-2: Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Policies, Statutes, and Executive Orders. Depending on the nature of the purchase, purchase/SCM teams should consider including the following clauses in solicitations and contracts:
- Clause 2-22: Value Engineering Incentive is used when applying the principles of value engineering to a specific purchase to incentivize supplier innovation is appropriate.
- Clause 7-11: Recycled Content Products is used when the contract includes products made from recycled-content materials, all or in part, that meet this criteria and are readily available in the marketplace.
- Clause 7-12: Bio-Based Content Products is used when the contract includes products made from bio-based materials, all or in part, that meet this criteria and are readily available in the marketplace.
- Clause 7-13: Energy-Efficient Products is used when the contract includes energy-efficient products, all or in part, that meet this criteria and are readily available in the marketplace.
- Clause 7-14: Water-Efficient Products is used when the contract includes water-efficient products, all or in part, that meet this criteria and are readily available in the marketplace.
- Clause 7–15: Supplier Sustainability Data Reporting is used when the contract meets the criteria (i.e. the contract includes environmentally preferable products (EPPs) and the estimated contract value is $500,000 or more) for requiring semiannual reporting.
- Clause 7-18: Eco-Label Certified Products is used when the contract includes Eco-Label Certified products, all or in part, that meet this criteria and are readily available in the marketplace.
