USPS Restores Most Operations in the Central Florida Area

TAMPA, FL – The Postal Service has restored mail delivery, retail services and mail collection to most Suncoast District customers affected by Hurricane Irma, even in the hardest hit areas.  Postal operations continue to recover as quickly as it is safe to do so.  All Post Offices/Stations/Branches in Suncoast have resumed normal operations, with the exception of those listed below.

Customers can get information on delivery and retail services in their location by visiting www.usps.com and clicking the “Service Alert” bar at the top.  The site is updated as recovery continues.  

The following offices are offering limited delivery and limited retail.

    • Location of Mobile Retail Unit: 102 Copeland Ave N, Everglades City, FL 34139
      Hours:  Monday through Saturday, 10am – 3pm

The following offices are offering limited Retail Services in a Mobile Retail Unit that is located on-site. PO Box mail can be picked up at these locations.  

  • GOODLAND, 427 PAPAYA ST, GOODLAND FL 34140-9800
    Hours:  Monday through Saturday, 10am – 3pm
  • MARCO ISLAND, 600 E ELKCAM CIR, MARCO ISLAND FL 34145-9998
    Hours:  Monday through Saturday, 10am – 3pm

“Postal employees continue to make every effort to provide service as soon as possible to all of our customers wherever we can ensure the safety of our customers and employees,” said Suncoast District Manager Eric Chavez. “We sincerely appreciate our customers’ understanding and cooperation as we recover from the storm.”

As recovery continues, updated information will be posted to the USPS Service Alerts website accessed through http://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/welcome.htm.  The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
