ELLICOTT CITY, MD – This week’s heavy thunderstorms caused historic flooding in the Ellicott City area, making it difficult for local letter carriers to make all of the deliveries due to road closures.
While the Ellicott City Post Office has not been affected by the flooding, several local streets are inaccessible and letter carriers will not be able to deliver. The impacted areas include Hill Street, Hamilton Street, Merryman Street, portions of Main Street, Frederick Road and Main Street to Rogers Avenue.
Mail for those impacted customers can be picked up at the Ellicott City Post Office, 3375 Ellicott Center Drive. Mail deliveries to all other Ellicott City addresses continue as normal.
“Our support for the community during these difficult times is unwavering,” said Baltimore District Manager Angela Curtis. “While we cannot deliver mail to impacted areas, we are prepared to assist our customers and make sure their access to mail always continues.”
The Postal Service is offering impacted customers a no-fee Post Office Box for six months at the Ellicott City Post Office. This will require a change of address. Impacted customers can file a Change of Address for mail delivery to a post office box or to another physical address, such as a relative’s home.
A Change of Address can be filed online at www.usps.com or by completing a Change of Address form, available at Post Offices or from a letter carrier.
