ELLICOTT CITY, MD — The Postal Service will continue to deliver and collect mail following last weekend’s severe flooding in the Ellicott City area to all addresses not impacted by road closures or flood waters.

While the Ellicott City Post Office has not been affected by the flooding, several local streets are inaccessible and letter carriers will not be able to deliver. Any mail that cannot be delivered can be picked up at the Ellicott City Post Office at 3375 Ellicott Center Drive. The Ellicott City Post Office is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9-2 p.m. The lobby is open 24/7 for PO Box customers.

Impacted customers may request a change of address to another physical address, such as a relative’s home, or place their mail on hold for 30 days. Customers can request change of address or hold mail at the Ellicott City Post Office. More information about change of address or hold mail requests is available at www.usps.com.

Starting today, the Postal Service joins the on-site staff at the Disaster Assistance Center located at 9401 Frederick Rd, Ellicott City, MD 21043. The hours for the center this week will be noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. A postal representative will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from today through Friday.

General questions regarding mail delivery can be directed to the Postal Service Customer Care Center at 800-275-8777 or www.usps.com at special USPS Service Alerts section. Local customers can also contact Ellicott City acting Postmaster Christopher Vaeth at 410-750-1340 for updated information.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. option
