Watertown — Were you one in seven million on Monday, touted as this year’s busiest mailing day?  If you visited www.usps.com, you were online for one of that site’s busiest days ever.

If not, postal officials will open the lobby at the Watertown Post Office on Wednesday, December 16 from 10 am to 2 pm to introduce residents and businesses to online opportunities with the Postal Service.

Postal representatives will demonstrate key online services found at www.usps.com at the Post Office on 232 Commerce Park Drive, to include:

  • Sign up for text and email alerts through my.usps.com to track the delivery status of packages
  • Request free Package Pickup or Hold Mail Service
  • Order free shipping supplies
  • Click-N-Ship allows businesses to create shipping labels with postage from a home or work computer. As an added bonus, consumers receive discounts on postage by printing their own labels with Click-N-Ship postage
  • Every Door Direct Mail service is an easy way to reach potential customers using direct mail without a permit or mailing list

Local postal officials, joined by the ultimate delivery fellow in red, will also demonstrate the self-service terminal, provide information on military mailings, and deliver some free prizes to Watertown residents.

According Postal Facts, published by the Postal Service, there were 1.2 billion visits to usps.com in 2014, or averaging about 3.9 million visits per day.   In order of popularity, the top usps.com sites were:

  • USPS Tracking
  • ZIP Code Lookup
  • Click-N-Ship
  • Postal Store
  • Domestic Rate Calculator
For international or military mailings, Global Express Guaranteed and Priority Mail Express Military Service are the only recommended options for mail delivery by the holidays.
