COLUMBIA, SC – The U.S. Postal Service is advising customers that normal service operations are expected today throughout South Carolina, but some areas in the path of the rainstorm may be affected in the event of unsafe conditions such as flooding or impassable roads.
“We are monitoring conditions at this hour and we anticipate we will be making mail deliveries in those areas where it is safe to proceed,” said Darryl Martin, manager of the Postal Service’s Greater South Carolina district. “We will ensure that each Post Office is safe for our customers and for the employees that serve them.”
In the event roads become impassable or unsafe for travel, Martin explained that mail delivery services may be curtailed, and mail collection schedules from mail collection boxes could be suspended.
