SAN ANTONIO, TX — Severe weather that caused flooding across much of Central and South Texas has affected road conditions in many places across the area. In locations where mail carriers cannot safely access mailboxes, due to flooding or road closures, customers’ mail will be brought back to the delivery unit and held there, and may be picked up at their Post Office during normal business hours.
Currently, all Post Offices in the USPS Rio Grande District are fully operational, with no reports of significant storm related problems. Should flooding conditions expand over the next few days, this could result in impacts to mail delivery and some Post Offices.
The Postal Service makes every reasonable effort to deliver mail in many difficult weather conditions. We are currently monitoring road conditions in the affected areas. Decisions regarding mail delivery service will be made on a location-by-location basis, depending on the severity of conditions. Safety is the primary concern for the Postal Service. Keeping employees and customers safe is our most important goal.
Customers with questions or comments about their mail service can contact their local Post Office. Customers may also call toll-free 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) or send an e-mail to the Postal Service by clicking on Customer Service at the bottom of the Postal Service’s www.usps.com home page.
The Postal Service website also hosts USPS Service Alerts that detail service disruptions due to weather-related and other natural disasters or events.
