SUBJECT: Special Relief Effort
I have heard from many postal employees who have asked how they can help to support the victims of recent terrorist attacks. As postmaster general and a member of the postal family,
I share in your desire to help at this time of great need. Attached is a list provided to us by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) containing names and addresses of organizations involved in the ongoing relief efforts. Although, as you may know, workplace collection of cash and other items is prohibited outside of Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) solicitations, OPM
has informed us that they will allow federal agencies to encourage donations to these relief efforts at this time. I urge you to send a donation directly to any one of the organizations on the attached list.
To ensure long-term assistance to a relief organization or to another charity of your choice, please remember that the CFC is now under way in some regions of the country and will begin shortly in other areas. This is an excellent time to consider making contributions via payroll deduction
through CFC.
I am confident that your support will go a long way to help those in need.
