ASM REVISION
Emergency Lines of Succession
Effective May 12, Administrative Support Manual (ASM), section 286.1 is revised to update the emergency lines of succession in the event the postmaster general is incapacitated from an enemy attack or other national emergency.
We will incorporate these revisions into the next printed version of the ASM, and also into the online version, available on the Postal ServiceTM PolicyNet Web site:
• Go to http://blue.usps.gov.
• Under "Essential Links" in the left-hand column, click on References.

286.1 Postmaster General

In case the postmaster general is incapacitated from an enemy attack or other national emergency, the following is the line of succession to perform the duties of the postmaster general (see section 112.11):
a. Deputy postmaster general and chief operating officer.
b. Vice president, area operations, eastern area.
c. Vice president, area operations, western area.
