HANDBOOK AS-701 REVISION
Material Management
Effective June 13, 2005, Handbook AS-701, Material
Management, is revised to reflect changes in Material Management
procedures and processes while providing the guidance needed to accomplish
the Material Management function responsibilities.
The June 2005 edition of Handbook AS-701 will only
be available on the Postal ServiceTM PolicyNet Web site:
• Go to http://blue.usps.gov.
• Under "Essential Links" in the
left-hand column, click on References.
• Under "References" in the right-hand
column, under "Policies," click on PolicyNet.
• Click on HBKs.

Interest Rate on Contract Claims
The Postal ServiceTM periodically publishes in the Postal Bulletin the interest rate payable on a claim decided
in a supplier's favor, under the Contract Disputes Act of 1978. This rate
also applies for late payments to suppliers under the Prompt Payment Act,
as amended.
The interest rate effective for the 6-month period
beginning July 1, 2005, and ending December 31, 2005, is 4.5 percent.
