Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag

The Postal ServiceTM will issue a nondenominated First- Class Mail® definitive stamp Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag on December 8, 2005, in Washington, DC. The stamp designed by Terrence W. McCaffrey of the U.S. Postal Service®, Washington, DC, also goes on sale nationwide December 8, 2005.

The stamp features two of the most recognized symbols of the United States: the Statue of Liberty and the American flag. Carl and Ann Purcell of Alexandria, Virginia, took separate photographs of the Statue of Liberty and the American flag and combined them to create the montage used in the stamp art.

The stamp will be issued in the following nondenominated formats:

• Water-activated gum (WAG) pane of 100 (Item 108500).

• Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) ATM sheetlet of 18 (Item 567600).

• PSA pane of 20 (Item 567700).

• PSA vending booklet of 20 (Item 674300).

• PSA double-sided booklet of 20 (Item 674400).

• PSA coil of 100 (Item 783000).

• WAG coil of 3,000 (Item 783400).

How to Order First Day of Issue Postmark

Customers have 60 days to obtain the first day of issue postmark by mail. They may purchase new stamps at their local Post OfficeTM, by telephone at 800-STAMP-24, and at the Postal Store Web site at www.usps.com/shop. They should affix the stamps to envelopes of their choice, address the envelopes (to themselves or others), and place them in a larger envelope addressed to:

After applying the first day of issue postmark, the Postal Service will return the envelopes through the mail. There is no charge for the postmark. All orders must be postmarked by February 7, 2006.

The Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag WAG pane of 100 will not be automatically distributed to stamp distribution offices (SDOs). Automatic distributions will be made to accountable paper depositories (APDs) only. SDOs requiring item 108500 must order them from the appropriate APD using a separate PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition/Stamp Return. SDOs ordering this item from APDs need not order in master carton size quantities. SDOs should only order

according to immediate customer demand (10,000 stamps per pad minimum order from an APD).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

SDOs will not make a subsequent automatic distribution to Post Offices. Post Offices requiring quantities of Item 108500 must order them from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17. SDOs should not have distributed stamps to Post Offices before November 30, 2005.

Additional Supply

Post Offices requiring additional stamps must requisition them from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional stamps must order them from the appropriate APD using PS Form 17.

All SDOs will receive automatic distributions of the Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag, ATM sheetlets of 18. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton size (12,000 sheetlets).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

SDOs will not make a subsequent automatic distribution to Post Offices. Only Post Offices equipped with Automated Postal Centers® (APCs®) and authorized automatic teller machine (ATM) customers may order Item 567600 from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17. SDOs should not have distributed sheetlets to Post Offices before November 30, 2005.

Philatelic Requirement

SDOs will not receive a separate quantity Item 567600 for their authorized philatelic centers. Philatelic centers must be supplied their quantities from the initial automatic distribution made to SDOs.

Additional Supply

Authorized Post Offices, requiring additional sheetlets for restocking of APCs and for resupply of authorized ATM customers must requisition them from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional sheetlets must order them from the appropriate APD using PS Form 17.

For fulfilling supplemental orders from SDOs, APDs will receive additional quantities of Item 567600. For fulfilling supplemental orders from APDs, the Kansas City Stamp Service Center (SSC) will also receive additional quantities of Item 567600.

Distribution: Item 567700 Nondenominated (39-cent Value) Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag, PSA Pane of 20

SDOs will receive approximately four and one-half times their standard distribution quantity for a PSA sheet stamp. Distributions will be in multiple waves. All shipments, that began November 1, 2005, will be complete by December 29, 2005. Distributions are rounded up to nearest master carton size (40,000 stamps).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

From the initial shipments of Item 567700 received by SDOs, a subsequent automatic distribution will be made to Post Offices for their full standard automatic distribution quantities using PS Form 17. This automatic distribution to Post Offices supports the December 8, 2005, first day of issue. SDOs should not have distributed stamps to Post Offices before November 30, 2005.

Subsequent waves of Item 567700 to SDOs will be available for supplemental ordering by Post Offices to support the January 8, 2006, rate change implementation date.

Philatelic Requirement

SDOs will not receive a separate quantity Item 567700 for their authorized philatelic centers. Philatelic centers must be supplied their quantities from the initial automatic distribution made to SDOs.

Additional Supply

Post Offices requiring additional stamps must requisition them from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional stamps must order them from the appropriate APD using PS Form 17.

For fulfilling supplemental orders from SDOs, APDs will receive additional quantities of Item 567700.

Distribution: Items 674300 and 674311, Nondenominated ($7.80 Value) Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag, PSA Folded Vending Book of 20 (for Vending Use Only)

SDOs will receive automatic distributions of the Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag folded vending books of 20, both straight packaging (Item 674300) and crisscross packaging (Item 674311). Distributions will be in mutiple waves. All shipments that began November 1, 2005, will be complete by December 29, 2005. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton size (4,500 books for straight; 3,000 books for crisscross).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

SDOs will not make a subsequent automatic distribution to Post Offices. Only Post Offices equipped with the appropriate self-service vending machines may order Items 674300 and 674311 from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17. SDOs should not have distributed books to Post Offices before November 30, 2005.

Additional Supply

Authorized Post Offices, requiring additional books for restocking of the appropriate self-service vending machines, must requisition them from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional books must order them from the appropriate APD using PS Form 17.

For fulfilling supplemental orders from SDOs, APDs will receive additional quantities of the vendible straight books (Item 674300) and crisscross books (Item 674311).

Distribution: Item 674400 Nondenominated ($7.80 Value) Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag, PSA Double-Sided Booklet of 20

SDOs will receive approximately two and one-half times their distribution quantity for a PSA booklet. Distributions will be in mutiple waves. All shipments that began November 1, 2005, will be complete by January 31, 2006. Distributions are rounded up to nearest master carton size (4,000 booklets).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

From the initial shipments of Item 674400 received by SDOs, a subsequent automatic distribution will be made to Post Offices for one-half their standard automatic distribution quantities using PS Form 17. This automatic distribution to Post Offices supports the December 8, 2005, first day of issue. SDOs should not have distributed booklets to Post Offices before November 30, 2005.

Subsequent waves of Item 674400 to SDOs will be available for supplemental ordering by Post Offices to support the January 8, 2006, rate change implementation date.

All SDOs will receive automatic distributions of this nondenominated ($39.00 value) Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag, PSA coil of 100. Distributions will be in multiple waves. All shipments that began November 1, 2005, will be complete by January 11, 2006. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton size (800 coils).

Initial Supply for Post Offices

SDOs will not make a subsequent automatic distribution to Post Offices. All Post Offices requiring quantities of Item 783000 must order them from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17. SDOs should not have distributed coils to Post Offices before November 30, 2005

Philatelic Requirement

SDOs will not receive a separate quantity Item 783000 for their authorized philatelic centers. Philatelic centers must be supplied their quantities from the initial automatic distribution made to SDOs.

All SDOs will receive an automatic distribution of this nondenominated ($1,170.00 value) Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag WAG coil of 3,000. Distributions are rounded up to nearest master carton size (64 coils).

STAMP ANNOUNCEMENT 05-33

Navajo Jewelry Stamp

The Postal ServiceTM will re-issue a 2-cent definitive stamp, Navajo Jewelry, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 (Item 107200), on December 8, 2005, in Washington, DC. The stamp designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC, also goes on sale nationwide on December 8, 2005.

The Navajo Jewelry definitive stamp was previously issued on August 20, 2004, in a PSA pane of 20 (Item 107200), printed by Avery Dennison (AVR).

How to Order First Day of Issue Postmark

Breast Cancer Research Semipostal Stamps to Remain on Sale Through
December 31, 2007

On November 11, 2005, President Bush signed Public Law No. 109-100 that extends the sale of the Breast Cancer Research semipostal stamps through December 31, 2007.

The Breast Cancer Research semipostal stamps and products listed below must remain on sale at all Post OfficesTM, stations, branches, postal stores, contract postal units, vending outlets, and authorized philatelic centers.

Additionally, these items will be available for sale at Stamp Fulfillment Services and through the online Postal Store Web site at www.usps.com/shop.

NOTICE

Retail Service Equipment Vending Instructions for Sales of Breast Cancer Research Semipostal Stamps

Self-service postal center technicians and personnel who service vending machines must continue to offer the Breast Cancer Research semipostal stamp.

Multicommodity vending machines (PCM-1625A and PCM-1625B) are currently required to offer the following two (2) semipostal stamps for sale:

• Breast Cancer Research semipostal stamp (Item 367200).

• Stop Family Violence semipostal stamp (Item 367500).

Semipostal stamps are not authorized for sale in any machine other than multicommodity machines.

CORRECTION

Pictorial Postmarks Announcement

As a community service, the Postal ServiceTM offers pictorial postmarks to commemorate local events celebrated in communities throughout the nation. A list of events for which pictorial postmarks are authorized appears below. If available, the sponsor of the pictorial postmark appears in italics under the date. Also provided, as space permits, are illustrations of those postmarks that were reproducible and available at press time.

People attending these local events may obtain the postmark in person at the temporary Post OfficeTM station established there. Those who cannot attend the event, but who wish to obtain the postmark, may submit a mail order request. Pictorial postmarks are available only for the dates indicated, and requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the requested pictorial postmark date.

All requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First-Class Mail® postage. Items submitted for postmark may not include postage issued after the date of the requested postmark. Such items will be returned unserviced.

Customers wishing to obtain a postmark should affix stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others,insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to: PICTORIAL POSTMARKS, followed by the NAME OF THE STATION,ADDRESS, CITY, STATE, ZIP+4® CODE, exactly as listed below (using all capitals and no punctuation, except thehyphen in the ZIP+4 code).

Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service returns the items (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.
