Some Sharps Medical Waste Containers No Longer Accepted

Stericycle, Inc., and SCS Corporation voluntarily discontinued sale of one of their sharps medical waste containers. Effectively immediately, these containers are not authorized for mailing:

• Stericycle: USPS-050H (3G-1V2).

• SCS: USPS-052E (3G-V2).

Postal ServiceTM employees must not accept containers bearing the model numbers listed above. If these containers are identified already in the mailstream, set them aside and contact the addressee to pick them up. If customers ask why we are refusing to accept a container, tell them it is no longer considered mailable and to contact the appropriate manufacturer.

This notice applies only to the model numbers identified above. Stericycle and SCS manufacture and distribute other authorized sharps medical waste containers. Continue to accept those other containers for mailing.
