The green team: Providence facility earns EPA honor

Providence, RI, Vehicle Maintenance Facility employees James Massarone, left, James Castro, Michael Hassell, Ernest Marquis and Jeff Wilson are members of the "P2" team that helped earn the facility membership in the EPA's National Performance Track Program.The Providence, RI, Vehi­cle Maintenance Facility (VMF) has been accepted into the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) prestigious National Perfor­mance Track program.

Performance Track is a voluntary EPA program that recognizes facilities for environmental excel­lence in compliance, pollution-prevention accomplishments and environmental management systems.

Southeast New England District Vehicle Maintenance Facility Manager Michaela Saccoccio credits this success to her pollution prevention (P2) team and Northeast Area Environmental Specialist Julie Theroux. The P2 team includes VMF Storekeeper Ernest Marquis, VMF General Clerks James Massarone and James Castro, Automotive Technicians Ted Janes and Michael Hassell, and Lead Automotive Technicians Jeff Wilson and Tom Willard. “This group has made our facility an environmental leader and set an example in the community,” Saccoccio said.
