Effective April 12, 2007, Post Offices™ and postal retail units will begin selling the new Forever Stamp™ at the new price of 1-ounce First-Class Mail® single-piece postage — 41 cents each.
The Forever Stamp is intended to reduce the inconvenience that mailers may experience in acquiring new-rate postage or “make-up” stamps, such as 2-cent or 3-cent stamps prior to implementation of new prices. Regardless of the purchase price, the postage value of a Forever Stamp will be the current 1-ounce First-Class Mail single-piece letter rate and will remain valid regardless of future First-Class Mail price changes.
New individual account identifier codes (AICs) have been set up to report the new Forever Stamp sales to correspond with the source of the sales transaction. The new AICs are described in the table below.
