Beacons that beckon: USPS commemorates historic lighthouses

Stamps honoring five historic lighthouses.The Postal Service is recognizing five historic Pacific lighthouses with new commemorative stamps — featuring Hawaii’s Diamond Head Light, Five Finger Islands Light in Alaska, Grays Harbor Light in Washington, Oregon’s Umpqua River Light and St. George Reef Light in California.

The first-day-of-issue ceremony was held at the Westport, WA, Maritime Museum, which owns and operates the Grays Harbor Light under the 2004 National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act.
