Delivering imagination

Dolly Parton's Imagaination Library, a literacy program, mailed its 10 millionth bookWhat started as an effort from her home in Sevier County, quickly spread to all 95 coun­ties in Tennessee — and beyond.

Music icon Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a literacy pro­gram that mails one book a month to chil­dren from the time of their birth until age five, last month delivered them to 400,000 kids in 700 communities in North America.

Parton said she knows such volume is “a drop in the bucket” for the Postal Service, but she thanks postal employees for their part in the program’s success.
