Postal Bulletin 22231 > Policies, Procedures, and Forms Updates > Publications
Effective April 24, 2008, we are revising Publication 51, International Postal Rates and Fees, to clarify the weight limit for individual items in direct sacks of printed matter to one addressee (M-bags).
While the maximum weight for an M-bag is 66 pounds (including the tare weight of the sack), the maximum weight of individual items within a sack is implied by Universal Postal Union and Postal Service™ standards but is not clearly stated.

We will incorporate this revision into the next printed version of Publication 51 and also into the online version of Publication 51, which is available on Postal Explorer® http://pe.usps.com.
