USPS employees featured in energy conservation campaign

Poster featuring Facilities Engineer/Architect Rob McNiece.Rock stars, athletes and movie legends have their own posters. Why not postal employees?

Now, at least two do.

Facilities Engineer/Architect Rob McNiece and Dallas Engineer David Murphy are featured in posters celebrating their energy-saving achievements. Produced by the Federal Energy Management Program’s “You Have the Power” campaign, the posters will appear in numerous public locations around Washington, DC, and in the Southwest Area.

The campaign salutes the Postal Service’s efforts to reduce energy consumption. McNiece — named the Postal Service’s 2008 Energy Champion — and Murphy are credited for their audits aimed at lowering energy consumption in postal facilities.

“Robert McNiece and his energy team are leading the effort to reduce energy consumption in buildings 30 percent by 2015,” his poster says. “After auditing just 35 million square feet, more than 800 billion BTUs of potential energy savings have been identified and are being implemented.”

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program is reducing the government’s energy consumption at federal sites through conservation and alternative energy use.
