Bright idea

Did you know compact fluorescent light bulbs produce the same amount of light as traditional incandescent bulbs but use about 75 percent less electricity?

And even though fluorescent light bulbs cost more than their incandescent cousins, users still save money because they last up to 10 times longer.

In fiscal year 2007, USPS spent more than $526 million for electricity with much of the costs for lighting. Using compact fluorescent light bulbs will help lower utility bills. Changing just one 100-watt incandescent bulb to a 25-watt compact fluorescent light bulb saves more than $90 in electricity costs each year.
