Information Desk > Philately
On August 16, 2008, in Hartford, Connecticut, the Postal Service™ will issue a 42-cent, Elk definitive stamped envelope. The envelope, designed by Carl T. Herrman of Bethany Beach, Delaware, goes on sale nationwide August 16, 2008.
The envelopes, printed by Ashton Potter USA, went on sale May 2, 2008, and were originally printed by flexography. A new print process (offset lithography) is now being used. The Elk stamped envelopes will still be available in the following formats.
For collecting purposes, the Elk stamped envelopes will also be available on the First Day of Issue at Stamp Fulfillment Services (SFS). The following item numbers should be used when ordering from SFS at 800-STAMP-24 (800–782-6724):
Customers have 60 days to obtain the first day of issue postmark by mail. They may purchase the new stamped envelopes at their local Post Office™, at The Postal Store® Web site at www.usps.com/shop, or by calling 800-STAMP-24.
