New Travel Card Program Takes Effect November 19

Effective immediately, the Postal Service™ has awarded a task order for the new travel charge card pro­gram to Citibank. The Postal Service has received permis­sion to begin the new travel charge card program prior to the end of the General Services Administration (GSA) SmartPay 1 contract expiration. The new travel charge card will be active on November 19. Employees who currently have a Citibank travel charge card should expect to receive their new travel charge cards by October 31. Employees must call the number on the front of the new card to verify receipt of the card as soon as they receive it. Any cards for which receipt is not verified will not be activated on November 19.

The card will continue to be a VISA-brand card. This task order has been issued under the provision of the GSA SmartPay 2 Program and will be in effect for 10 years beginning November 30, 2008. Citibank has served as the Postal Service’s travel charge card provider since 1998 under the current GSA SmartPay 1 contract that expires on November 29, 2008.
