Effective with the guarantee year, October 25, 2008, Handbook PO-603, Rural Carrier Duties and Responsibilities, is revised to update Exhibit 531.3 with the creation of a separate fixed allowance entry for the IMD scanner. All future rural route evaluations, effective with the resulting evaluation from the Special Mail Count being conducted September 17–30, 2008, will reflect this change. The 6–minute weekly allowance for IMD scanner setup and return will now be an automatic allowance and will not require counters to enter this number in Column R, Other Suitable Allowance, during a mail count. A revised PS Form 4241-M, Rural Route Evaluation Worksheet, which reflects the revision, is given on page 6 of this Postal Bulletin.
