DMM Revision: Changes to the Commercial Base Pricing Requirements for Priority Mail
Beginning October 1, 2008, the Postal Service™ is updating the requirements for commercial base prices by removing the electronic Confirmation Services requirement for Priority Mail® customers using permit imprint. Commercial base prices will be available for customers using permit imprint when a postal routing barcode matching the destination ZIP™ Code is on the mailpiece. Permit imprint customers mailing flat-shaped mailpieces meeting the criteria as stated in the Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®) 301.1.1, General Definition of Flat Size Mail, will be able to use a POSTNET™ or Intelligent Mail® barcode instead of the postal routing barcode to claim the commercial base prices.
The commercial base prices will continue to be available for Click-N-Ship® customers, registered end-users of PC Postage™ products when using a shipping label, and Priority Mail Open and Distribute customers using permit imprint with a service barcode on the address label.
