On February 17, 2009, in Oxford, Ohio, the Postal Service™ will issue a 27-cent, Miami University stamped card (Item 223500). The stamped card, designed by Howard E. Paine, Delaplane, Virginia, goes on sale nationwide February 17, 2009.
The Postal Service will commemorate Miami University’s bicentennial by issuing a stamped card in the Historic Preservation series.
The stamped image on the card is a computer-generated illustration of MacCracken Hall, created by artist Tom Engeman of Bethany Beach, Delaware.
Customers have 60 days to obtain the first day of issue postmark by mail. They may purchase new stamps at their local Post Office™, at The Postal Store® website at www.usps.com/shop, or by calling 800 STAMP-24. They should affix the stamps to envelopes of their choice, address the envelopes (to themselves or others), and place them in a larger envelope addressed to:

After applying the first day of issue postmark, the Postal Service will return the envelopes through the mail. There is no charge for the postmark. All orders must be postmarked by April 20, 2009.
Stamp Fulfillment Services also offers first day covers for new stamp issues and Postal Service stationery items postmarked with the official first day of issue cancellation. Each item has an individual catalog number and is offered in the quarterly USA Philatelic catalog.

There are two philatelic products available for this stamp issue:
n 223561*, First Day Cover, $0.40.
n 223591*, Ceremony Program, $6.95.
Items with an asterisk (*) will use the 128 barcode from Stamp Fulfillment Services. All other philatelic products will continue to use barcode series A, with the exception of the Yearbook and the Guide Book.
The 27-cent; Miami University Stamped Card will be distributed nationwide to all Stamp Distribution Offices (SDOs) and to Stamp Fulfillment Services in Kansas City, Missouri.
SDOs will not make a subsequent automatic distribution to Post Offices. Post Offices requiring quantities of Item 223500 must order them from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition/Stamp Return. SDOs must not distribute Item 223500 to Post Offices before February 10, 2009.
Authorized philatelic centers nationwide must be supplied their quantities from the initial automatic distribution made to stamp distribution offices. SDOs must not distribute Item 223500 to philatelic centers before February 10, 2009.
Post Offices requiring additional quantities of Item 223500 must requisition them from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional quantities must order them from the appropriate accountable paper depository (APD) using PS Form 17.
For fulfilling supplemental orders from SDOs, the Memphis, Chicago, New York, and San Francisco APDs will each receive additional cards. In addition, the Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, and Akron SDOs will receive additional cards for Post Offices in the state of Ohio.
All Post Offices in the state of Ohio, and authorized philatelic centers nationwide must acquire and maintain a supply of this commemorative stamped card as long as customer demand exists, until inventory is depleted, or until the card is officially withdrawn from sale. If supplies run low, Post Offices must reorder additional quantities using their normal ordering procedures.
