A national Business Reply Mail® Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been developed based upon Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act documentation review. The SOP documents procedural changes. The updated procedures for Business Reply Mail include 1) the need to obtain second-party concurrence on bundles held for funds and 2) the requirement that all sites maintain a log on PS Form 3584, Postage Due Log, or on PS Form 3867, Accountable Mail Matter Received for Delivery, for all bundles held for funds.
The changes to the Business Reply Mail procedures can be found in the USPS National BRM SOP May 2010 Changes document. For clerks new to Business Reply Mail, a complete SOP is available in the USPS National BRM SOP 2010-05 document. The document will be posted on the retail site at http://blue.usps.gov/retail/L2F4ProductOperations.htm.
Familiarize yourself with the revisions to your work processes. The field should have the revised procedures fully implemented by the effective date of July 5, 2010.
