New Service Type Identifiers for Reply Mail

Effective immediately, customers who apply Intelligent Mail® barcodes to their Business Reply Mail (BRM), Permit Reply Mail (PRM), and Metered Reply Mail (MRM) are asked to begin using new Service Type Identifiers (STIDs). The following chart depicts the new STIDs that are to be used for all reply mail.

Previously, CRM, PRM, and MRM shared the same STIDs as other categories of First-Class Mail®. The new STIDs enable the proper identification and reporting of reply mailpieces bearing an Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb™) as they move through the postal system.

Reply mailers are to use the new STIDs when replenishing their reply mail inventory. The Postal Service will continue to process reply mailpieces encoded with the old STIDs without penalty.

The entire list of STIDs can be found online at http://ribbs.usps.gov.
