DMM Correction: New Mailing Options for Flats and Irregular Parcels Bearing a Simplified Address

In the article “DMM Revision: New Mailing Options for Flats and Irregular Parcels Bearing a Simplified Address“ in Postal Bulletin 22305 (2-24-11, page 4), the Postal Service™ announced that, effective June 6, 2011, it would revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®) 602.3.2.1 to reflect the new option for mailers to use a simplified address format on Periodicals flats and irregular parcels and Bound Printed Matter flats, intended for distribution to city delivery routes and to Post Office™ box sections in Post Office locations with city delivery service. Also in the February 24, 2011, Postal Bulletin article, the Postal Service provided that mailers had the option to prepare their mailings in accordance with these new standards immediately.

Recent modifications to the DMM publication schedule has provided the opportunity for the Postal Service to publish the new standards ahead of the date referenced in the February 24, 2011, Postal Bulletin article. As a result, these new standards will be published in the April 17, 2011, online DMM and will be effective on that date.
