Effective May 2, 2011, the Postal Service™ will restore Global Express Guaranteed® (GXG®) service to all destinations in Japan.
Postal Service employees should disregard the notice of the suspension of GXG service to certain destinations that was announced in the article titled “Update on Mail Service to Japan” published in Postal Bulletin 22307 (3-24-11, pages 71–73).
However, even with this restored GXG service, mailers are still advised to expect delays for other classes of mail addressed to northern Japan, including Sapporo, Sendai, Hokkaido, Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Miyagi, Yamagata, Fukushima, and Ibaraki.
