Publication 52 Revision: Clarification of Packaging Standards for Mailable Explosives

Effective June 6, 2011, the Postal Service™ will revise Publication 52, Hazardous, Restricted and Perishable Mail, section 341.22, and Appendix C, Packaging Instructions 1A and 1B, to provide the proper packaging standards for mailable explosives.

With this revision, toy propellant devices and safety fuses that fall under the mailable explosive material cate­gory must be properly packaged when presented for mail­ing according to U.S. Postal Service® regulations.
