Qualified Business Reply Mailers Transitioning to the Intelligent Mail Barcode

USPS^® has revised procedures for Qualified Business Reply Mail™ (QBRM™) customers transitioning to the Intelligent Mail^® barcode (IMb™). Unless other aspects of their mailpiece design change, mailers are not required to submit samples or reapply for approval in the QBRM pro­gram when transitioning to the IMb by replacing the POST­NET™ barcode with the IMb on existing approved QBRM letters and postcards.

The change makes it easier for mailers to migrate to the 31-digit Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb). The first step to creat­ing BRM with the IMb is for BRM permit holders to obtain a mailer identifier (MID) number. Business mailers can down­load Business Reply Mail^® with Intelligent Mail^® Barcodes at https://www.usps.com/business/doc/BRMIMBInstructions6-22-11.doc.

To qualify for QBRM prices and fees, valid BRM permit holders must submit a PS Form 6805, Qualified Business Reply Mail (QBRM) Application, which can be found at http://about.usps.com/forms/ps6805.pdf.
