Effective January 22, 2012, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) sections 232.94 and 242.43 to provide current information regarding the availability of return receipt service when used in conjunction with Registered Mail™ service and insured Priority Mail International® parcels.
In the article titled “IMM Revision: Mailing Standards Reorganization for Global Express Guaranteed, Express Mail International, Priority Mail International, and First-Class Mail International Services” in Postal Bulletin 22266 (8-27-09, page 11), we announced revisions based on a reorganization of the IMM subchapters for these four services. However, the published revisions for both the Priority Mail International and First-Class Mail International® sections inadvertently contained tables that listed the countries that at the time accepted return receipt service for Express Mail International® service. Actually, the number of destination countries allowing return receipt service when used in conjunction with Registered Mail service and insured Priority Mail International parcels is much more comprehensive than was listed in those published tables. Although the tables in the Priority Mail International and First-Class Mail International sections were incorrect, the correct information did appear (and continues to appear) in the Individual Country Listings.
Note: In the IMM’s Priority Mail International service section, the relevant section as of January 22, 2012, will be 232.94 — until then, the relevant section is 232.84, but other revisions also effective January 22, 2012, will cause the section number to change.
