Effective March 22, 2012, the Postal Service™ reissued its Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Policy Statement (see page 25). This statement now includes a reference to the Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) to Hire Heroes Act signed into law November 21, 2011. VOW expands protections against workplace discrimination based on military status under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) of 1994 (see http://uk.practicallaw.com/5-502-5644).
In accordance with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Management Directive 715 (MD 715), the policy will be updated annually and prominently posted in all personnel offices, in EEO offices, and on the Postal Service Intranet. This policy reaffirms the Postal Service’s commitment to equality of opportunity in every aspect of employment.
The EEO Policy Statement, Memorandum of Policy DD-03-22-2012, is also available on the PolicyNet webpage at http://blue.usps.gov/cpim/ftp/policy/dd/032212.pdf.
