DMM Clarification: Package Intercept Transitional Phase

On June 24, 2012, the Postal Service™ implemented the second phase of USPS Package Intercept™ service, introducing an electronic process for commercial customers requesting USPS Package Intercept and other related features. For a period of 6 weeks, effective immediately, commercial business customers who sign up to use the online application for USPS Package Intercept may participate in the transitional testing phase of the application.

During this 6-week transitional period, customers needing technical assistance will be provided additional technical support from the Business Service Network (BSN), operations integration specialists, or technical integration specialists as they begin testing their online data exchange with USPS® systems. As customers begin using the newly launched application, this additional customer support will ensure a smooth transition to the online interface. The transitional period also allows customers to participate in a testing environment prior to engaging in the application’s full functionality.

USPS Package Intercept service enables mailers to request mailpieces to be returned or redirected until the time of final delivery to the original address. Commercial customers may register and request USPS Package Intercept service through the Business Customer Gateway at https://gateway.usps.com/bcg/login.htm.

Commercial customers interested in the electronic process for Package Intercept are encouraged to contact their local USPS sales representative or the BSN for additional information.
