To promote the USPS® Green commitment, we are encouraging Post Offices™ to participate in the recycling program. By converting built-in waste receptacles to recycling receptacles, offices can reduce their trash volume costs and increase revenue.
You can offer your customers a place to recycle their paper waste in retrofitted waste receptacles. Use Label 891, Please Recycle: Paper Only, and these containers to collect the recyclable material and reduce solid waste in your lobbies. See “Convert Post Office Lobby Waste Receptacles to Recycling Receptacles” on page 61.
Containers come in two sizes:
n 7-gallon container (19½" long x 15 3/8" wide x 14½" high).
n 14-gallon container (14½" long x 10½" wide x 15" high).
The Postal Service™ can make significant reductions in its solid waste disposal costs if customers recycle their mail and paper waste. By offering customers the opportunity to recycle their mail and paper in the lobby, the Postal Service can also play an important role in meeting customers’ environmental expectations.
Affected postmasters should use the eBuy on-catalog requisition system to order the recycling containers from the MDC. Search for items using the PSN number listed below (with the dashes). If your office doesn’t have access to eBuy, order using touch-tone order entry (TTOE): Call 800-273-1509.
