New postage prices take effect on January 26, 2014. Stamps in support of the new prices will be issued beginning on January 27 through March 2014. Recommendations for stamps that can be used in conjunction with existing stamps as make-up postage, until supplies of new denominated stamps can be made available, are noted below.
The release and availability date reflects the earliest the stamps may be available to the public for online, phone, and mail orders. These dates are tentative and subject to change.
There will be no automatic distribution of these items to Post Offices™. Offices will be notified when these stamps are available to order through eBuy2.
On January 27, 2014, large coils of 3,000 and 10,000 stamps featuring Ferns will be issued as 49-cent denominated stamps. Later this year, large coils will also be made available in the Forever® format for added convenience to business mailers.
On February 7, 2014, the 34-cent Hummingbird stamp for the postcard rate will be issued in PSA panes of 20 stamps and PSA coils of 100 stamps. The panes of 20 will be available first, followed soon after by the coils of 100. Offices should maintain a supply of 1-cent Tiffany Lamp PSA panes of 20 stamps to offer customers for use as make-up postage in conjunction with the 33-cent Apple stamps.
On February 12, 2014, the 21-cent Abraham Lincoln stamp will be issued in PSA panes of 20 stamps and PSA coils of 100 stamps, for the First-Class additional-ounce rate (extra ounces above the first ounce). Offices should maintain a supply of 1-cent Tiffany Lamp PSA panes of 20 stamps to offer customers for use as make-up postage in conjunction with the 20-cent George Washington stamps.
On February 10, 2014, the 70-cent Great Spangled Fritillary (Butterfly) stamp will be issued in PSA panes of 20 stamps, for the First-Class 2-ounce rate and the non-machinable surcharge rate. Offices should maintain a supply of 4-cent Chippendale Chair PSA panes of 20 stamps to offer customers for use as make-up postage in conjunction with the 66-cent Butterfly stamps. Offices may also offer pairs of the 2-cent Navajo Necklace stamps as an alternative to the 4-cent Chippendale Chair stamp. Additional 2-ounce rate, 70-cent stamps will be released in late February featuring the Wedding Cake and in March featuring Yes, I Do, as well as C. Alfred “Chief” Anderson.
On February 18, 2014, the 91-cent Ralph Ellison stamp will be issued in PSA panes of 20 stamps for the First-Class 3-ounce rate. Offices should maintain a supply of the 5-cent American Toleware PSA panes of 20 stamps to offer customers for use as make-up postage in conjunction with the 86-cent Tufted Puffins stamps.
On March 13, 2014, the $19.99 USS Arizona stamp will be issued in PSA panes of 10 stamps for the Priority Mail Express™ flat rate. Offices may offer the same 4-cent options noted above as make-up postage for use in conjunction with the $19.95 Grand Central Terminal stamps.
Special “rate-change packets” are being prepared and offered for sale to customers by Stamp Fulfillment Services (SFS). These packets are for online, mail, and phone orders only through SFS. The item numbers for the current stamps are listed here as a handy reference guide for Post Offices that may wish to offer them to customers while awaiting the new stamps with new denominations, as suggested above.
