Stamp Announcement 14-20: Tree Stamped Card

On March 28, 2014, New York, NY, at the American Stamp Dealers Association Spring Postage Stamp Show held at the New Yorker Hotel, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue a Tree stamped card (Forever® priced at 38 cents) in one design.

The card will go on sale nationwide March 28, 2014.

This graphic depiction captures the look of a fanciful tree, in greens and browns, amid birds and tall grasses. Art director Ethel Kessler designed the stamped card using an illustration created by artist Cathie Bleck.

The Tree stamped card will be available in the following formats:

n Single-cut cards (Item 227900).

n Double-reply cards (Item 233000).

n Sheet of 40 cards (Item 234000).

Distribution: Multiple Items: Tree Stamped Cards (Forever priced at 38 cents — 34 cent postage plus 4-cent surcharge)

Stamp Distribution Offices (SDOs) and Stamp Distribution Centers (SDCs) will receive their standard automatic quantities of the stamped cards. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton sizes:

n Item number 227900, single card, Quantity 5,000.

n Item number 233000, double reply card,
Quantity 2,000.

n Item number 234000, sheet card, Quantity 250
(of 40 cards).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

SDOs/SDCs will not make an automatic distribution to Post Offices™. Post Offices requiring items 227900, 233000, or 234000 must requisition them from their designated SDO/SDC using PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition/Stamp Return. Offices will be notified when these stamped cards are available to order through eBuy2. Post Offices should not sell the stamped cards prior to the first-day-of-issue.

How to Order the First-Day-of-Issue Postmark

Customers have 60 days to obtain the first-day-of-issue postmark by mail. They may purchase the new cards at their local Post Office, at The Postal Store® website at www.usps.com/shop, or by calling 800-STAMP-24. They should affix stamps to envelopes of their choice, address the envelopes (to themselves or others), and place them in a larger envelope addressed to:

After applying the first-day-of-issue postmark, the Postal Service™ will return the envelopes through the mail. There is no charge for the postmark up to a quantity of 50. For more than 50, customers have to pay five cents each. All orders must be postmarked by May 27, 2014.

The Postal Service also offers first-day covers for new stamped card issues and Postal Service stationery items postmarked with the official first-day-of-issue cancellation. Each item has an individual catalog number and is offered in the quarterly USA Philatelic catalog, online at http://usps.com/shop or by calling 800-782-6724. Philatelic Products

There are two philatelic products for this stamped card issue:

n 227916*, single card with cancellation, $0.50.

n 233016*, double reply card with cancellation, $0.88.

Items with an asterisk (*) will use the 128 barcode from Stamp Fulfillment Services. All other philatelic products will continue to use barcode series A, with the exception of the Yearbook and the Guide Book.
