USPS Package Intercept Scores Touchdown with Customers

USPS Package Intercept® now allows both individual and commercial customers the option to redirect shipments that haven’t been released for delivery or delivered.

Send something by mistake or to the wrong person, no problem — the USPS Package Intercept FORCE Team is here to save the day. The team, made up of all USPS® employees, enables customers to “intercept” and redirect a domestic mailpiece to a Post Office™ location as a Hold For Pickup, mailed to a different domestic address, or returned to the sender.

USPS Package Intercept is currently available for packages, letters, and flats with a USPS Tracking or Extra Service barcode and all mail classes except Standard Mail® or Periodicals.

Package Intercept is so easy to use and convenient — only a few simple clicks for the customer to register and create an account on www.usps.com. Customers just need to verify first that the USPS Tracking or Extra Service barcode is eligible for Package Intercept, and then submit the Package Intercept request at https://retail-pi.usps.com/retailpi/actions/index.action under the Track & Manage tab. For commercial users, they can set up an account through the Business Customer Gateway at https://gateway.usps.com/eAdmin/view/signin and use the Shipping Services menu to request this service.

Once a request is submitted and if the package is successfully intercepted, the customer will then be notified and charged the $12.15 Package Intercept fee plus applicable postage.

Based on instructions from the customer, the mailpiece may be re-labeled and placed back into the postal processing and delivery network. Mail crisis averted and problem solved, thanks to your USPS Package Intercept FORCE Team for a job well done.
