Effective March 5, 2018, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 201.5.3b, to clarify the weight of a Bound Printed Matter (BPM) nonautomation flat-sized piece.
As a result of the new standards for combining USPS Marketing Mail® flats, BPM flats, and Periodicals flats in DMM 705.15, section 201.5.3b was inadvertently changed to read 20 ounces. We will revise section 201.5.3b to reflect the original 15 pound weight limit for nonautomation flat-sized pieces.
Although we will not publish this revision in the DMM until March 5, 2018, the standard is effective immediately.
