Management Instruction PO-530-2018-2: Revised Process for Lease Trailer Damage Claims

Supply Management and Network Operations recently published Management Instruction (MI) PO-530-2018-2, Processing Lease Trailer Damage Claims. MI PO-530-2018-2 establishes procedures for documenting and processing claims arising out of damage to lease trailers.

The Postal Service™ is contractually obligated to reimburse suppliers of lease trailers for the cost to repair damage not caused by the fault or negligence of third parties. Suppliers of lease trailers that are damaged must submit documented claims for reimbursement. MI PO-530-2018-2 provides the steps that Postal Service employees must take to document damage to lease trailers and process claims for reimbursement. MI PO-530-2018-2 replaces MI PO-530-2001-2 (formerly posted on the web).

n Go to blue.usps.gov.

n In the left-hand column under “Essential Links,” click PolicyNet.

n Go to the right-hand side under “Published Forms and Directives.”

n Click Management Instructions.
